 Verified A very successful whale watching tour.
The whale watching tour was to be the centerpiece of our trip to Iceland. It was a gray, cold day with some wind but it turned out even better than we hoped. Both the captain and our guide worked hard and we saw three humpbacked whales during our trip. The boat was relatively small compared to some of the other ones out of Husavik but that was a real plus. There were twelve guests on board and we could move around to get better views. For me, this was the highlight of the whole Iceland experience. I wholeheartedly recommend The Friends of Moby Dick.

Really wonderful experience, the staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and kind. Our guide gave us a lot of information and curiosities about whales. We've alerted three specimens and white-billed dolphins, as well as puffins! They provide them with a thermal suit but it is better to dress heavy because with the wind it is really very cold! For those suffering from seasickness it is better to prepare in time with medication because at times the roll of the boat is so much and annoying.

 Verified An unforgettable whale watching experience
This was the best whale watching trip we have been on. We were so lucky to have a clear sunny day. The boat is small, and there were only about 20 people on it. Mada, our marine biologist guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable , and kept us informed. We had about 30 minutes watching 2 humpback whales diving fairly close to us. With the engines switched off it was amazingly quiet and listening to the whales was an unbelievable experience. The tour was very responsible too with a high degree of concern not to get in the way of the whales’ natural behaviour. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

During our recent trip to Iceland (early May), my wife and I did a whale-watching trip with Friends of Moby Dick – it was all around terrific! We were provided with warm weather gear that kept us comfortable; the boat was a nice size for a couple dozen people and good for moving around to see wildlife. And we saw lots of wildlife during our morning cruise–including humpback whales socializing and a blue whale! The marine biologist onboard provided a wealth of information and the tour took care to not stress the animals we were viewing. Thanks Friends of Moby Dick!

Man bekommt auf jeden Fall einen Wasserschutzoverall gestellt, der auch zur Sicherheit dient. Zur Erwartungshaltung, man muss sich vor darauf einstellen, vor allem Buckelwale zu sehen. Alles andere ist pures Glück.

The waters around Húsavik are home to several species of cetaceans, including the more common Humpback and Minke whales as well as rarer visitors such as Blue, Fin and Killer whales. White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises can also be seen on our trips. These magnificent creatures are truly a sight to behold and our team of whale watching experts will help you get up close and personal with them.

In addition to whale watching, our tours offer breathtaking views of the beautiful Icelandic coastline and the chance to see other marine life such as seals, and sea birds. Our boat is designed to provide a comfortable and stable platform for viewing wildlife, and our knowledgeable guides will provide you with a wealth of information about the whales,their habitats and other marine life.

This is our whale watching tour. We will head West towards Kinnarfjöll, the highest point is syðri háganga *(1284m). On that way we are passing through the best whale watching area in Skjalfandi bay, we can expect to see Humpbacks and Minkes and sometimes other species like Blue or Fin whales, we will spend the rest of our tour with the whales and then return to Husavik.
